Great summary and points addressed. Aoife's point on interdisciplinary is so important. I'd argue it must even go beyond economics and finance. Communication, critical thinking, and understanding how people think and social systems work are "soft" skills that many employers demand. Social sciences excel at teaching these skills.

Good point Kathrin and agree the social sciences are great at developing critical organisation development skills and capabilities - at all levels from 1:1 through to large teams and whole organisations, and how they operate internally and externally. Aoife's own personal career path is instructive and one for others to learn from. It is not surprising that it was the University of Manchester that attracted and appointed her given their commitment to discipline development aligned to solving real world problems.
