The Green Edge is looking for a Partnership Manager
As The Green Edge grows, we need someone to build our Sponsor Community. Is that you?
The Green Edge is looking for a Partnership Manager to build our sponsor community. The role would suit a home-based individual who has experience of building commercial funding networks for using online media, ideally with a green agenda.
About Us
The Green Edge is an online newsletter (tagline: ‘Skilling up for Net Zero’) and was founded in late 2021 by Dr Michael Cross and Fraser Harper of Blue Mirror Insights Ltd. (BMI). Before starting The Green Edge, BMI was active in several high-profile educational and skills-related projects, including the building of the occupational maps for the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), and the development of an occupational skills portal for the Sultanate of Oman.
In mid-2021, BMI designed and ran a survey, funded by the Gatsby Charity, to test the appetite among policy-makers, business, industry and academia for a green skills network, to share insights and experience about the skills that the UK will need to truly achieve Net Zero. The results from the survey showed that the appetite for such a network was very strong and The Green Edge was launched to build that network through a free subscription to the newsletter.
The Green Edge has grown beyond the levels we anticipated at the time of launch and now consists of around 500 subscribers, many of whom have leading green roles in government (central and local), industry sector bodies, academic institutions and elsewhere. Consequently, we are now in a position to leverage our subscriber network and to accelerate the production of well-informed content via more guest posts, interviews and other means. This, in turn, will help to grow our subscription base still further.
To do so, though, we need sponsorship. We believe that as far as possible, everything we publish on The Green Edge should be free, so to date we have funded The Green Edge purely through BMI revenues. But as our commitment to The Green Edge grows – we have recently launched a weekly podcast, for example – we need to scale back BMI and focus full-time on The Green Edge. Therefore, to allow Michael (responsible for Content and Knowledge) and Fraser (responsible for Editorial and Production) to concentrate on our key tasks, we are looking for a Partnership Manager to build our sponsor community.
Key Tasks
The Partnership Manager will take full responsibility for building The Green Edge sponsor community. Key tasks will include:
Building value propositions for sponsored content, including guest articles, sponsored posts, interviews and podcasts, information threads, and dedicated sections of the newsletter;
Setting rates for standard items such as sponsored posts;
Identifying and approaching potential sponsors;
Writing publishable copy for the newsletter to invite sponsorship;
Negotiating sponsorship deals.
Compensation
This is a non-salaried position but our compensation proposition is simple: you will be compensated at 25% of every sponsorship you bring to The Green Edge.
